Owner Note : 28 September 2025

Visitors to the farm may notice signs of spring, including flowers and new plant growth.
As the year approaches its end, I would like to highlight the following points.
AGM
A date will be circulated shortly to the members. It will again be on a Saturday Morning
physical meeting on the Estate.
Game Capture
Our environmental study shows there is an excess of game on the Estate. To maintain
sustainability, Blesbok, Impala, Giraffe, and Warthog will be removed with help from a
game capture team as well as other specific teams. The date of the main game capture
will be announced when confirmed.
Security
Considering the recent incident involving the targeted theft of a battery, inverter, and
television from one residence, estate security has once again, and rightly so, become a
focal point of discussion. Given the broader societal challenges we face, security will
remain an ongoing concern. Please note the following important points:
• Boschhoek Mountain Estate is not classified as a Security Estate, and much of
its perimeter fencing does not consist of high-security electric fencing. The
installed electric fences primarily serve to contain wildlife within the estate.
• After personally inspecting the section of the fence believed to be used for
unauthorized access, several warthog excavations were found that could
potentially facilitate entry onto the property.
• Two small items removed during the incident have since been recovered.
• We are committed to implementing measures that will deter unauthorized
access, but due to the extensive perimeter, this risk cannot be eliminated.
• The Security Committee has submitted several recommendations currently
under consideration, including the possible installation of additional cameras at
strategic locations.
• Security patrols continue to operate approximately twice a month, focusing on
higher-risk areas. Patrol objectives include monitoring for unusual activity,
poaching, and breaches along the fence line. It is essential that all building staff
are informed about these ongoing patrols. Each patrol submits regular feedback
and written reports. The most recent patrols occurred on:
o 13 September
o 27 Augusto 16 August
• All homeowners are encouraged to take personal responsibility for the security of
their properties. Based on experience, basic surveillance systems significantly
enhance overall estate security. If your solar system is network-connected,
please promptly report any irregularities to the Estate Manager.
Building
Two homes are nearly finished, and three more owners plan to start building soon. If
you’re interested in building, there’s a dedicated WhatsApp group—contact the Estate
Manager or Mark Kingon to join.
Other matters
• The concrete drift on the servitude road was completed. This is where the stream
from Knobwood crosses the servitude road
• We are intending further road repairs on various places, but we need to rent in a
TLB to do this. Just to note a TLB and truck costs approximately R100 000 for ten
days.
• Various repairs are being considered at the Stilling dam to ensure it is properly
maintained.
• Please note there is a gas braai which was donated at Viljoens Rus. If you want to
use it take your gas bottle with. I am told that no good Braai Addict would sink so
low as to braai on gas but it is convenient.
With kind regards
Mark Kingon
